I am of mixed race.
I was raised white and taught to hate blacks, yet my skin is brown.
I was taught that by 'being' white, I was one of them. I learned differently.
Not to many years ago. I was at a thing called Decoration that happens in the Tar hill region of N.C. After the decoration is a C family reunion.
After I sat down to eat food, in the garage, I noticed most of the family members (whites) got up in groups, walk outside, and stood to eat their food. I knew what that's about, they will not eat in the same room as a darkie. So, I gathered my plate and sought out a more secluded spot, not wanting to be the darkie that ruined their meal. After a bit, I was sought out and asked to rejoin the "family" in the garage. Yup, you guessed it. When I took a seat the garage was full of white family members who got up and left when I entered the garage. I learned, that day, I was not welcome in my so called family.
